Exactly and well said!
And because of the stellar American coverage (not)… we were basically SOL until CBC got around to honoring their commitment to the NHL.
The CBC should be out of NHL hockey, and the taxpayers should be out of the CBC… there may be a blog about this sooner or later.
Let CBC be the voice of second rate sports like MLS soccer and the AHL hockey.

Kinda smacks of the southern CFL expansion back in the day. I wonder if Gary Bettman and Larry Smith are related? At the very least they must have both excelled in that little known college class “How to Fail Miserably in the South With a Canadian Product”…but I digress. Just one of inumerable reasons why I can’t get excited about watching NHL in nearly a decade now. Between the stupid politics, over-expansion, watered down talent pool, and blatant disrespect towards doing ANYTHING meaningful to protect players’ heads and necks it’ll be a long, long time before they get me back.

Let us not forget this is the same outfit that almost lost Ron Maclean due to the same inept vision and contract bargaining skills that lost them the HNIC theme song…I mean really, who is Don Cherry without his straight man during the first intermission anyway? Grapes is great, but he’s 3 times better with Ron beside him…

I can’t figure out exactly what Hugh Charles is going to have to do to finally get some respect.
The guy performs whenever he gets the chance… what else do the Riders want in order to get him some more play time?

Yup, I’ve been wondering myself if Huf will instill some fear in those oversized chihuahuas that can’t control their mouths – or their actions on field for that matter. Then again, maybe it wouldn’t have mattered since Henry is the perennial choke artist come playoff time. All any team has to do is drop him once early in the game to get inside his head. He’s so bloody scared of ever getting sacked he’d rather ground the ball behind scrimmage…

HARVEST time in late October — would hurt attendance and viewership — ah, screw the farmers – good idea.
Better idea, start 2 weeks earlier, play the Grey Cup indoors every year and leave an extra week between the division finals and the Grey Cup game. This would put the division finals in early November.
Best idea, start a 16-week season in the middle of June — Grey Cup would be played on the final Sunday in October or the folowing week — still bearable weather.
Truth is that TSN can’t/won’t start more than a couple of weeks earlier due to NHL playoffs . . .
Although the weather forecast for Edmonton is right around 0C from thursday on . . .
